Who We Are

Caryn Cochran, LCSWCaryn Cochran, LCSW is a medical social worker and champion of patients and their families as they navigate the complicated maze of healthcare while coping with their illnesses and injuries. Caryn’s professional experience includes working in hospital-based, acute in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation, and comprehensive home and community neuro-rehabilitation. She specializes in complex, catastrophic illnesses and injuries including brain injury, cancer, progressive neurological diseases, spinal cord injuries, amputation, stroke, and polyortho-trauma.

Caryn works collaboratively with physicians, therapists, case managers and patients and their families (the most important members of the team) to ensure the best possible care and to mitigate the challenges that are inevitable with complex illnesses and injuries.

Caryn’s patients are primarily working-age adults and children. She has special expertise in the resources and supports needed when a wage-earner is unable to work due to theirs or a loved one’s medical condition. Caryn also understands the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families and is well-versed in the specialized resources available for children.

No one expects a significant illness or injury in children or working-age adults. When it does, it can be devastating. As a licensed clinical social worker, Caryn has specialized training and experience in individual and group psychotherapy and often uses these clinical skills when supporting her patients and families as they adjust to the immediate and long-term impacts of an illness or injury. Currently, Caryn facilitates a support group for the friends and families of individuals with brain injury; she also initiated and leads the only support group in the country for the children and siblings of individuals with brain injury.
